Do you have all the skills you need on the trail?  We can offer a complete range of instruction and training covering both maintenance and beginning mountain biking skills. Our training is not text book or academic, it is real world, hands on, and coming from people who actively ride and use these skills on a daily basis. Topics covered include:

Basic Maintenance
· Brake adjustment – changing pads, adjusting pads, barrel adjusters, spring tension
· Derailleur adjustment – barrel adjusters, cable tension
· Cleaning and lubrication – Proper cleaning techniques, types of lubes and application
· Inspecting for worn and damaged parts – worn chain, brake pads, frame inspection

Emergency/Trailside Repair
· Fixing a flat – replacing and patching tubes, torn sidewalls
· Broken spokes – emergency wheel truing, brake adjustment
· Brake and derailleur adjustments – brakes that rub, poor shifting
· Fixing a broken chain – removing damaged links

Basic Riding Skills:
· Mounting - Starting Position, Starting on Uphills, Starting Downhills
· Pedaling - Platform vs. Toe Cages vs. Clips, Lift Up / Push Down, Pedal in a box, Stalling and Unclipping
· Shifting - Predicting Shifts, Cadence and Torque, Soft Shift/Soft Pedal
· Braking - Use the Front, Braking and Cornering
· Uphill - In Or Out of the Seat, Obstacles and Hills
· Downhill - Downhill Position, Out of Control on Purpose
· Picking Lines - Eyes, Where Would Water Go
· Obstacles - Shifting Weight, Looking Beyond
· Cornering, Pushing vs. Pulling, Leaning and Pedals

Bike Fitting:
· Seat position
· Seat height
· Stem length
· Handlebar width
· Lever placement
